Two-Player Aeroplane Chess on One Device

Red to playHome0/0

Park the Board Between You

Lay a phone or tablet between two people and start. There is no room to open and no network to wait for. Red rolls first, then hands the turn to Yellow. Agree on undo before you begin; if you are keeping score, play two games and swap who sits Red.

Three Things Before the First Roll

Leave the device facing one way. Whoever is to move rolls, then taps a highlighted plane. Pass the screen only after the turn marker changes color.

If someone is new, two rules are enough for game one: a 6 leaves base, and all four planes must reach home. Captures, extra rolls, and three sixes can wait until they show up.

Decide before the first roll whether undo is allowed. A fair scored round is two games, each person sitting Red once.

Roll, Move, Then Pass It

The status bar names Red or Yellow. Roll first. Only planes that can use that number light up; tapping one finishes the move. A wrong tap is not final until you pick a plane that can go. When the marker changes color, hand the device over so nobody steals a turn.

Lit Means Legal, Not Best

The usual argument is whether this 6 can leave base, or whether a roll fits exactly into home. Highlights already applied the rules. A lit plane may move; it is not advice that a capture is worth taking.

Each of You Sits Red Once

A single game always starts with Red. To keep score, play two games and swap colors for the second. The list records each roll and which plane moved. If you cannot agree which turn sent a plane back, replay from there instead of arguing from memory.
